Day 3: Fascia, Doors & the Cupola
The results of today’s construction is less jaw-dropping, but the trusses were finished and we have a couple of doors (though no walls)! Some of the fascia is up, and the cupola is assembled and ready to go.
Day 2: “Hey, that kinda looks like a BARN!”
Today we went from poles to nearly a full skeleton. It’s been very exciting to pop out every few hours to see the progress our crew has been achieving! The day’s final results at Quitting Time (about 5:15 p.m.):
Construction: Day 1
Rain delayed our start date twice, but we’re still over a month ahead of schedule according to our contract. Today was officially Day 1 of construction, and it’s impressive (and exhilarating) how different our site looks!
Exciting New “Developments”
Our future barn is beginning to become a reality! Today the excavation team arrived to prepare the site for building. Many thanks to Hanson Sanitation & Excavating for their hard work and willingness to satisfy our insatiable curiosity by answering our many questions about their equipment and process!

Fresh Grass!
The girls (plus Archie and babies) always love it when the next section of pasture gets opened up. We’ve designed a new rotational grazing plan this year – so far it’s working great! Meanwhile, we’re on our way to an electrified woven wire perimeter fence – this is a summer of getting things done!
Shearing 2018

Well, we didn’t name this place Snowhaven for nothin’! I just never expected to be holed up in mid-April thoroughly enjoying our wood cook-stove. Now I just wish the sheep didn’t have to be out there! It’s not the temperatures or even the snow that are so heinous – it’s the driving wind and snowdrifts …
