The Big Boys

My big guys. I think AJ (NC) will be my backup ram for this year’s breeding season. Angus (white) is looking for new pastures preferably with lots of ladies! Angus carries recessive color – midnight blue, as far as I can tell – and has an amazing fleece, but doesn’t let it go to his …

Summer News

The farm blog has been fairly quiet these last few months, but the wheels are always in motion here on the farm! Along with the typical fencing projects, here are a few other things that are in the works: It’s just about breeding time for Emily so we can have a warm weather calving for …

Day 6: Voila!

It’s been a very exciting week! But now we can really get going on the good stuff: more fencing work, setting things up for a future family milk cow, putting up some wood sheeting to protect the walls from the critters (and vice versa), and moving the hay bales in for the coming winter!

Bring on the Boys!

The lucky rams got to meet their lovely ladies last night, officially kicking off our 2018 breeding season! As of this afternoon, we’re seeing marks on Irene (courtesy of Romney ram Angus) and Cedar (courtesy of moorit Romeldale ram lamb Chesterton). Unless they are re-marked in a later cycle, we’ll be seeing our first lambs …

Day 5: Sliding Door

The crew took a short day, considering the longer hours they put in throughout this week. But they still constructed and installed the sliding door on the south side before heading out.
